95 seville 4.6L northstar engine. It takes a good 3 or 4 seconds of cranking to start, but thats not the problem. If I am going slow and take my foot off the gas, it will stall. This is an intermittant problem. hard to predict when and if it will happen. In park, the rpms wont stay steady, they will suddeny drop, the car will almost stall and then the rpms increase like the car is trying to compensate. Now i have an additional problem,it wont start in neutral. If it stalls I have to come to a complete stop, put it in park, and it always restarts no problem. The service engine light intermittantly comes on and has done so for a couple of years, long before i started having this problem. A couple of mechanics looked at it , of course, it never stalled for them. I always use at least 91 octane and started to use Sunoco ultra and see no difference. I love the car, and am afraid to take it to the dealer because of the possible bill. HELP!!!

Patrick; If the check engine light has been coming on, it should store a trouble code, even if it goes out. You should have the codes retrieved and post them. The issue you describe sounds like a fuel delivery fault. Could be as simple as a vacuum leak, dirty IAC, partially plugged fuel filter, ect. The three or four seconds of cranking is longer than normal. After having the fuel filter checked/replaced, have the fuel pressure checked. Ask them to check for the fuel pressure bleeding off after shutdown, also. Loren SW Washington
