Ok so i was changing the rear motor mount on my car the other day and to get to the back bolt i took a extension down behind the intake manifold. While doing so i ended up snapping the egr valve tube that runs into the back of the manifold.( took a nice chunk out of it) I trying to see if its ok to put a small piece of hose where the chunk was taken out or do i have to buy a new tube? I price one at the dealer because no autoparts store sells them and the price is near $100 just for a plastic tube no bigger than a coffee stirring straw. Im looking for a quick easy temp fix until i can get the money to fix it. I dont wanna take the tube off or leave it like it is because i read that it will cut down on gas mileage. Does anybody have a opinion?

You've got hot exhaust on one side of that valve and vacuum on the other side and you want neither of them to leak. I don't know what the exact layout of that one is but it has to be a solid, reliable repair and rubber isn't going to work on the exhaust side.
