98 kia sephia-rear brakes and drum. Sign In

98 kia sephia I am having trouble with the rear drums and brakes. I started hearing noises on the rear end, so I figured it needed brakes. When I pulled the rear drums off, the bearings which are pressed in went all over the place. I went to a junk yard and picked up some drums that had the bearings in still. I regreased them replaced the brake shoes and I had to move the adjustment so the drum would slide over the shoes. When I went to put the nut on that holds the drum, I could put it on too tight and the wheel would not spin and if I put it too loose, than everything rattles and does not feel right. I tried to test drive it and there is a lot of noise. What am I doing wrong? Please help.

You might not like my reply, but here it is; your problem is buying used brake and bearing parts. If you have a headlight switch go out, try the junkyard. If you hit a deer and need to put a new headlight and hood on, try the junkyard. When you need a reliable part that affects not only the ability to stop but keeps the wheel from passing you on the road, NO junkyard. Get the right parts from a good store and save yourself an accident, injury, lawsuit, death, etc. There are places to save money on your car, and this isn't one of them. Would you like someone else to own your house because of a $200 expense? I'm not looking to belittle you, merely to educate you on how to do this. Brakes, suspension and steering should always be met with new parts. If you have an engine or tranny die, you can pull off the road and stop. If your brakes go out or you blow a bearing, your ability to safely handle the car is out the window. Not worth it. Please be safe and best of luck to you.
