I have a 99 camaro 5 speed that won't shut off I can have the keys in my hand jingling and it won't shut off I have to stall it or sometimes put parking brake down I replaced ignition switch...didn't solve my issue I unplugged alternator car ran fine without key in ignition I swapped ignition relay...still same issue I'm lost I've never experienced something like this another thing is the car will run just fine when I take the key out the battery gauge goes down to 10volts but thats all I can still drive without the key...any suggestions on what this could be?

There is a piece of linkage that connects the ignition lock to the ignition switch that may be broken. It's #13 in this picture. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Is it moving the ignition switch when you rotate the key? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

You're going to have to start following a wiring diagram to find out where the power is coming from. It has to be something to do with the ignition switch or it's wiring. The computer, coils and injectors are all staying powered up so that has to be coming from the ignition switch somehow.

? Kyle: Just asking if this will shut off now if you turn key more towards the ACC position? You also shouldn't be able to take key out but if that shuts engine off you may be back to that rod #13 isn't so 100% correct (guess) and fix if so will be more of WHY it's off the spot? Trauma* IMO the #1 reason, T * Includes, prior theft attempts, fixed accidents, use of wheel to hold in place for towing, steering without power assist etc...
