I have a 2002 buick lesabre custom with a 3.8. Over a year ago the AC quit and we went last summer without now we want it back. I had the car started and someone hit the switch and the clutch didn't engage so I checked the brown for ground and the lt green wire for any voltage and got none switched the horn rely for the ac one and with car started still no voltage, I read that there are pressure switches in the circuit that would not engage the clutch, so there are people telling me to "dump a can of freon in it" but we don't know if the lines are pressured, should I "dump" the freon in or take it to a shop?

Take it to a shop if you don't have a set of ac gauges and don't know how to troubleshoot or service ac systems properly.

If you don't know how much is actually in the system, why would you "dump a can in"? It could be like flushing a toilet when the water level in the bowl is already at the edge of the rim.

thats what I thought and that's what I told the wife and the other guy, you don't just "dump" freon in the system, I know there are a few components and they work in "harmony" with each other, not that I know a lot about it either but I'lll take your word over theirs any day.Thanks again

Refrigerant charge has to be an exact weight. Too little is a problem and too much can be an even bigger problem.
