Antifreeze/Coolant

Is there anything wrong with using a generic antifreeze/coolant like Prestone (Longlife), in a 2015 Nissan (Micra)? The car manual says to use only a Nissan version, but does using a third party coolant, cause any damage?

It requires either Genuine NISSAN Long life Antifreeze/Coolant (blue) or equivalent.
To be equivalent it must state on the label that it can be substituted for Nissan long life. It also will be blue so no I doubt Prestone long life is acceptable.

Thanks for the reply. On the Prestone label it says it works with any make and model car. Wouldn't all car manufacturers state that they recommend using their own brand of fluids?
Are there only certain car makes that can use third party like Prestone?
Your thoughts are appreciated!

Yes they recommend their own OR equivalent. They use some very specific chemicals that are engineered to their product so no, the prestone cannot be used in all cars.
Your car requires a very specific type of coolant.

They don't even make oils and antifreezes but it's made to their specifications since color added do as Hammer Time says and get the right product. Why - who knows what materials they used that want a special type specifically?
All this stuff says it's good for all vehicles and better than nothing if in a total jam to get you just till you could be safe and deal with it but wouldn't trust it for this full time, they all love to sell their products,

I'm sure there are aftermarket coolants that will work but they will talk about this coolant specifically and it will be BLUE.
