Battery - V6 versus V8 Sign In

I have a V8 GMC Sierra and I accidently put a new battery in it meant for a V6. Will this hurt anything? WHat are repercussions?

Possibly no problem at all if the CCA (cold cranking amp) rating is enough for the vehicle and it fits properly. I'll venture that a CCA rating of 550 or better is fine. If you want to move up a bit it just has more power when cold for extra strength and perhaps more reserve for several extra attempts with a higher rated battery. Even the V6 might have had an optional HD (heavy duty) system,

Yes, it actually has a higher CCA than the original battery. Thanks for the quick response.
