What is the 8th digit in the VIN? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Thanks for the speedy response Hammer Time. I tore into this project yesterday, by removing the serpentine belt, power steering pump, alternator, and (I think), all the remaining bolts. I saw a couple of pipes, of around an inch of diameter, that looked to be in the way and something else that I didn't really understand so, I put everything back together and decided to get some help from someone. Your instructions don't mention these pipes and I don't see them in your partial diagram. Am I missing something here, or will it appear differant to me, once I remove the idler pulley and the Inner fender electrical cover, which I did not do the last time? I'm just trying to cover all the bases, before I tear it apart again tomorrow. Thanks for all the input!

That's the reason you were asked for the engine code in the VIN#. There are 2 different engine styles. The VIN K version has coolant going through it and the VIN L version does not. The coolant version has 2 heater hoses that have to be removed and there are 2 points where the tensioner has coolant ports into the block, one of them is a plastic elbow and the other is part of the tensioner itself inserted into the block. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
