Brake Warning Light Sign In

I have a 2000 Honda CR-V, and recently I have had the brake warning light turn on. I took my car in to get an oil change and they said that my brake fluid was a little low but nothing too bad.

The light seems to turn on when it is cold outside and in the morning. There are several times when I am driving, I push my brake pedal and the warning light goes off.

I am planning on taking my car in soon, but I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions as to why this is happening so I know what to expect, how much it could be to fix it, etc.

Thanks is advance!!

Re: Brake Warning Light Sign In

did the shop add brake fluid to the low resevoir or just tell you about it?

check for yourself the fluid level. If the light is coming on when you step on the brake its probably the fluid moving away from the sensor under the braking force causing the light to illuminate and as soon as the vehicle levels out the fluid covers the senser again and the light goes off

Re: Brake Warning Light Sign In

Did they add some brake fluid to the master cylinder reservior? The brake lamp can come on when:

*The parking brake is engaged
*The parking brake switch is closed
*The master cylinder fluid level is low
*The brake switch circuit is shorted to ground
*The level switch is stuck closed in the reservoir
*The float is stuck down in the reservoir
*The brake level circuit circuit is shorted to ground

The reservoir fluid is low from:
Worn pads or shoes
Leak in the brake hydraulic system
