CHEVY CRUZE VVT Solenoid and Oil mess up

Hi all,
I've never really been mechanically inclined, and this is my first try at doing something myself, so I made a stupid mistake and I'm trying to gauge whats in front of me, or what I'm looking at to fix it.
I purchased a 2014 Chevy Cruze that was running very good. About a week in I got a CEL that through a P0011 code pointing toward a VVT Solenoid. Figuring this was an easier project I decided I would swap out the Solenoid myself and save some money.
Chevy Cruze has an Intake oil Solenoid and an exhaust solenoid on the front and back of the engine on the passenger side, of course the one I had to change was the one in the back and was in a really tight spot to get a rachet. Long story short it's an awkward spot, i got the old one out and put the new solenoid in, and when putting the fastener back and closing out the situation the bolt fell into the bay and it was lost.
this is the dumb part: Since I no longer had a fastener and none of the open auto parts stores in my area had replacements, I decided to see if I could maybe shake the engine enough to get the bolt to fall out, so I turned the engine on. As you can probably guess oil rained down all over the engine as the unsecured solenoid was pushed from it's slot. It was on for less than 10 seconds but there was a good amount of oil sprayed on the engine.
So the question I have is - once I get a replacement bolt from the dealership or chevy and fasten this thing down, what can I do to clean up this oil and what kind of things should I be on the lookout for thanks to this F**k up, or is it really not as bad as I thought?
Also any tips on getting a new fastener in without worrying about dropping it again would be a big help!

Fortunately you issue is more mess than fatality. Get the solenoid back in place and refill the engine oil to full level.
Then i would get some strong degreaser and a light power pressure cleaner to clean up the engine bay.\
In the future don't ever start the engine, or even turn the key on when you have part disassembled.

shew! Thank you so much you really just made my anxiety about this situation a lot less debilitating!
And advice noted and lesson learned for sure!

Just about the oil mess now: Clean it up, paper towels with a stick or whatever don't leave enough oil or puddles around to get on hot exhaust it can catch on fire!
Minimize that at least as best you can. When fixed and running it will burn off most beware of that don't go far just till proven it's not all in the wrong places.
Sorry it happened you just rustproofed you engine bay it sounds like otherwise 10 seconds is harmless as Hammer said I agree with,
