Camshaft sensor Sign In

My 2006 chevy aveo is giving off a bad cam shaft sensor code. I am somewhat knowledgable with cars and generally handle most of my car repairs on my own.
Is a cam shaft sensor something I could tackle on my own or is it best left to a mechanic?

I was told with a previous car that the sensor can get coated with build up over time and should be cleaned. Could that cause my car to give off a bad sensor code?

What is the trouble code number?

The cam sensor is located behind the timing cover. Usually cam sensors don't get built up with anything. Have you tested the cam sensor signal output?
