Alright, I've got a good one, I have a Nissan Altima 2004 with a temp gauge that shoots up to hot immediately, even if I turn the key to ON position, with code P1217. A symptom that popped up at the same time is the car shakes when I accelerate to quick. No coolant leaking. I'm a few provinces away from home and only have essential tools but still want to fix it myself if I can. I'm going to another Airbnb about 150 km away on Saturday so shes gotta be running by then. I was camping about 100 km from my place when it started so I've done a lot of driving and its no worse because of it. Any ideas, I'm beat.

The first thing you need to do is determine if the engine is actually overheating or if the gauge has a problem. Using a laser thermometer is probably the best way to do that. Measure the cooling jacket in multiple places.

I went to get temperatures with tic on phone and its pissing rain, now it wont start, not turning over really struggling.

Sounds likely. Famous last words:"and its no worse because of it" Its not supposed to stop raining until tomorrow, if I can get it started tomorrow I'll report what I find. Im going to go watch Stipe F**k up DC to deal with the anger. Thanks
