Car died while driving. Sign In

1999 Olds Bravada, 125k, died while driving. Wouldn't crank. Replaced fuel pump, filter. Jumped to start. Drove 20 mi. Tried to start again. Same. Battery good. Put battery back in. Started three times. Note, replaced ignition switch awhile back but have to push button inside steering column to remove key. Still starts but afraid to drive. Thoughts? TIA, Craig.

You need to be more clear in your description of symptoms.

Is the starter not engaging (no crank)

Is the starter engaging but the engine isn't starting (crank, no start)

When it died nothing but clicking. No crank. Now it starts right up. Could ignition switch issue be culprit?
TIA.

Not likely. It would be more likely a bad connection at one of the battery cables or other power connection or possibly just a bad battery.

One more unrelated thing.

You really need to change your user name before the spammers get their hands on it. That will create a nightmare for you.

CHANGE YOUR USER NAME! YOU ARE INVITING SUREAL SPAMMING WITH THAT!
The truck? Don't just take battery checks as gospel they are also only as good as the lousy cables used and hopeless side-post cable ends can get those at any Donut shop about now - kidding but a real problem if you don't tend to those not close, 100% fail rate if not cared for,
