Car grinds when i turn

So - if im backing out my driveway and have my car in R and turn my wheels, it grinds really bad. It only does this if im like idling D or R and turn my wheel either direction. Its a very loud eerie sound like rusted metal is grinding more metal.
It also does it sometimes if i make a very sharp turn while driving. Kind of a clanking grinding sound.
I just replaced all four break pads. New front end rotors and bearings. Im thinking itd a tie rod?
I own a 99 lincoln tc. 196xxx miles. Backwheel drive. V8 4.6l
Any idea?

It sounds like you could be experiencing an ABS activation from an inaccurate wheel speed sensor. Are you getting any ABS codes?

A little bit of history on my car. When I bought it it had 22 inch rims on it for about 5 months. I recently replaced All 4 rims on my Lincoln Town Car and all the tires with the standard stock sized rims and tires. I actually pulled the rims off of another 99 Lincoln Town Car. Before I change my tires, when I turn left or right to Sharp using the bigger 22 inch rims my ABS light would blink. After I change my tires and got appropriate rims for my car, the ABS light went away. The grinding is very loud and prominent and it only does it when my foot is completely on the brake and the car is in drive or reverse and I turn my steering wheel left or right while idling. It will also do it if I'm driving and I make a very sharp turn left or right.
When my foot is on the brake and the car is in drive or reverse and I move my steering wheel, it will grind and wine the entire time that I'm moving the steering wheel.
I'm getting no ABS codes. I know that my speed sensor was giving me trouble when I had uneven size tires and 22 inch rims on my car. It would activate the traction control and my car couldn't go above 40 miles an hour unless I turned off the traction control before I drove the car. But now that I got stock rims and tires on my car I can't foresee it being an ABS issue. However, I speed sensor could be right, I'm just not getting any codes for a faulty speed sensor. Do you think it could be a physical issue like something with the steering or suspension? I had the car scanned just a month ago and I got no signs of it being a speed issue. The only code that showed up was my descending unit because my speedometer doesn't work.

If your foot isn't on the brake when this happens we can rule out ABS. Your latest description sounds more like an issue with the PS pump. Verify it is full of fluid and clean.

Just a thought not an answer - Speed sensor said doesn't work? OK - I think all of these have variable power assist steering meaning at higher speeds you get almost nothing for power assist as you don't need it and gives some more feel adjusted to the speed you are going. If that has confused everything there is a way to lower available pump pressure (IDK how done on this) for assist. Just might behave like bad pump or low fluid level and not be either. Look for wires to a sensor on high pressure PS hose it has this system. Just maybe it's unplugged or if fine unplug it and see if default is full power assist - not sure none ever broke on me,

If something is falling off, that should be very obvious but it sounds like you could have a separated tire also.

If you crank the wheels all the way over, it might be rubbing metal to metal on the steering stops. If you put a little grease on the steering stops it might eliminate the noise. You should have the front end inspected. Ford was known for ball joint issues on those. The boots rot away and the grease gets washed out which can make the joints creak and squeal. If you let the joint go too long in that condition, the knuckle can separate from the control arm. That is a very bad thing.

The low speed wobble could be a bad tire. Jack it up and spin the tire while looking for a deformed area.
