2006 Honda Odyssey Don't know my engine size 85,000 miles Hello...First time caller, long time listener. I am new to the forum with asking for some information and I am wondering if anyone can help at least spitball some ideas of what could be wrong with my 2006 Honda Odyssey. I was driving it into work this morning only to have everything shut down. It was like a blackout suddenly happened inside the car. The electrical went out and the engine shut off. Shortly after this happened I pulled to the side of the road and the car started back up. This, obviously, has alarmed me as I don't want to be on the highway and have this happen. I'm going to take this in to get it looked at but because I'm not in a mood to have my wallet poached because I honestly don't know what is being said to me when it goes beyond oil changes and serpentine belts I was wondering if you had some ideas of what might be ailing my wagon. Any input would be appreciated!

You say it went completely dark and then started back up. Did all the dash lights and electrical come back on in the meantime or did they never go off? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Actually they went completely out and then turned back on only when I started back up.

That sounds like an ignition switch issue or a bad connection at one of the power leads.

Would this problem be discovered through one of those error assessments that Autozone provides (someone said they would do an electronic diagnostic for free. I'm not sure if this is the case.) Thanks so much for responding...

No, that's just a code read. You need a reach technician, not an AutoZone part time clerk.
