Changing Kia sparkplugs - Need Advice

The "Check Engine" light in our 2005 Kia Rio Cinco came on. There were four codes. Two of the codes were related to an evaporative leak. The code P0302 was listed twice. The printout of this code says that cylinder 2 is misfiring. This printout says that the problem may be that we need to change the spark plugs and/or wires. We need advice on how to change the plugs. Neither of us are mechanics. I do not want to make matters worse by making some sort of mistake. We bought platinum plugs - the counter person said that these do not have to be gapped. We also bought a small packet of "anti-seize". 1. Are platinum plugs recommended for a kia? 2. Is that accurate that we do not have to gap them? 3. Do we need to disconnect the negative battery cable before we begin? 4. Over the engine there is a large plastic-looking "lid". There seem to be four bolts holding this down. Is it ok for us to unbolt this plastic "lid" and lift it up to expose the top of the engine? 5. Other than making sure NOT to mis-thread the spark plugs as we are screwing in the new ones, is there any other precautions, concerns, tips, tricks that we need to know in order to do this properly? 6. Is it simply a matter of, a. lifting off the spark plug wires, b. unscrewing the old plugs, and c. installing the new plugs, d. replacing the spark plug wires and e. replacing that large, plastic "lid"? 7. To apply the "anti-seize", so we simply just coat the threads of the new plugs using a finger and a small amount of the product? Thank you for your time. It is appreciated. Hello and welcome to our forum. I will try to answer your questions by number. OK??? 1. Platinum plugs are not recommended unless they came from the factory with platinum installed. Platinum is probably fine to use. 2.IMO--all spark plugs need to be gapped. 3. Removal of negative cable is up to you. If you are unsure of problems, go ahead and remove. 4. Yes. Just remove the cover. 5. Make sure the spark plug socket is placed squarely over the spark plug. Go purchase a specific socket for spark plugs unless you already have one. Do not use a plain socket for this. If socket is mis aligned, you can break the porcelain and ruin the new spark plug. Be sure the engine is cool before trying to remove the spark plugs. 6. Your order of repair is correct. 7. You are correct in the application of the anti seize. Thank you for using our forum and we hope you visit us with any other problems you have. Thank you for your time! We changed the plugs successfully thanks to your advice. We changed to NKG plugs and also installed new wires. Thanks again!
