Chevy S10 Sign In

1996 S10 Check engine light is on, engine revs in park, trans will not shift unless gas pedal is released. I checked for vacum leaks, none. I removed air intake while engine was running and rpm's went very high. I reinstalled air intake and revs stayed very high. I unplugged the MAF, no difference. any ideas?

GEt a code reading and post back...Autozone does it for free.

These are known for intake manifold gasket leaks...check for vacuum leaks there as well..Just a thought..

post code/codes...

you can take a can of starter fluid and spray it around the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and see if the engine RPM increases. if so you found your vacuum leak

Just pray there isn`t any fire jumping around ,cuz you could lose your eyebrows!!!!
