Code P0087 on 2012 Kia Optima Sign In

Customer asked me to put in a new fuel pump in a 2012 Kia Optima 2.4. Old pump didn't have enough pressure. Losing power while driving. New pump, pressure up, but takes while to crank. . It takes 5-6 times to turnover before cranking. Not losing power, got power. Pulling code P0087. Car is idling fine. I have checked the fuses, no kinks in lines, injectors are going good. Check engine light is on. What would I need to check next? Can't find a fuel pressure regulator online or in store! Thanks in advance.

P0087 is a LOW fuel pressure issue- SO getting started -what is actual fuel pressure - new is not always good, did you use a KIA pump or aftermarket?
With KOEO observe fuel pressure peak and then observe pressure drop off ie drops xpsi in 5minutes.
WIth scanner be sure to look at ECT, FT's and o2 voltages to confirm low pressure volume issue... t want to check TSB
MIght want to look at TSB's I think #'s FUE 026, SC 114 both for this code.

Which pump did you replace?

Quote
General Description

The Low Pressure Pump (LPP) supplies 65 psi(4.5 bar) of fuel pressure to the High Pressure Pump (HPP).
Using the internally located Fuel Pressure Regulator Valve (FPR), the HPP will boost the fuel pressure from 580 psi(40 bar) at idle to a maximum of 1958 psi(135 bar).
The Fuel Pressure Sensor (FPS) confirms the fuel pressure and returns the signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
Fuel pressure during limp-home mode is 65 psi(4.5 bar).

DTC Description

P0087 is set when the fuel pressure drops to 0 psi(0 bar) or below.

What does the fuel pressure say on your scan tool? If the engine is running and the PCM sees 0 psi for more than 5 secs, it will set that code.
