2007 PT Cruiser 62,000 miles Automatic transmission. First below zero morning suddenly the car would not shift out of park. Ran for approximately 30 minutes and was able to shift if slammed the brake down very hard. Weather temps went up and thought it was a weird glitch. Temps have dropped again and problem has returned. I'm thinking there is an issue with the brake light switch. Does this make sense?

You could be right. That would be called the shift interlock feature. It operates on the same circuit as the brake lights so the first thing you want to do is to make sure the brake lights are working when this problem is present. If the brake lights are working, that proves the circuit is good up to that point, then you'll have to get to the solenoid in the console. Disassemble as much as you have to to access the solenoid near the shifting mechanism. Us a 12v test light to test for power coming and going at the solenoid when the brake is applied. If power is arriving and switching and the solenoid is not triggering, the solenoid is bad and will have to be replaced. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Sub-Zero? Live that. That odd things this time of year can be wet/humid on anything INSIDE vehicle all that hidden stuff can frost/freeze. Solution a maybe is get it super warmed up and dry inside before a big change. AFTER if that can be put whole vehicle inside to raise entire temp. As Hammer said "Shift Interlock" may even be fine just can't move or BRAKE lights "intermittent" check that?? T
