Cross Country Moving Sign In

Hey guys, I am moving across country, its going to be about a 40 hour drive, and I just got a 1994 Ford Ranger, V6, with 213,000 on it. What should I get done to it before I leave so that I can be sure my truck wont crap out on me in the middle of nowhere. I am going to get an oil change, and I was going to get a coolant change, but I was told that wouldn't be necessary. I just don't know what to get done to it to make sure nothing will really go wrong?

Thank you!!! Smile

Change the oil, oil filter and spark plugs. Check and replace if neccessary the air filter, spark plug wires and anything rubber, like the belts and hoses if they look worn, dry and/or cracked. Also do not forget the tires. Check the tread and air pressure on them before you leave and keep an eye on them along the way

Re: Cross Country Moving Sign In

like the poster said above but to expand.

give it a full once over since you just bought it. you dont know when the last time any of these items were replaced and it will give you peace of mind.

change:
Air filter
Spark plugs
wires
fan belt
coolant hoses
thermostat
new coolant since they old stuff will be all dumped out
fuel filter (if external)
Transmission filter
oil & Filter

inspect and grease suspension parts....chances are they have been changed and will have grease fittings
inspect the brakes and brake hoses.
inspect all your vehicle lights

you might want to also clean your MAF sensor and your IAC valve while your doing all this.
