Differential problems

I have a 1987 chev half ton 2 wheel drive. Today one of the back wheels will not move when put in drive. I jacked the trucks rear end up and put the transmission in neutral and the other back wheel and drive shaft move freely but this back wheel will not move. Could it be something broke in the rear end or differential. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

The way a rear end works if something has broke or come appart on the side ,and cause the wheel to lock up, it will likely jam up everything inside there. It sounds more like something has come appart inside the brake drum. Try to take off the drum on that side and see if anything falls out or looks broke. Good Luck Jeff
