Doesnt like to start Sign In

I have a 1997 Dodge ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.9L engine. When you try to start it it floods out and will not start. I have replaced the temp sender, O2 sensors, Idle air control. IF you take the fuel line off of the manifold and turn it over truck will start then you can put fuel line back in and run the truck all day. shut it off restart it with no problems. Come out the next day and same thing floods out. Im ready to pull my hair out please help!!!!

Not sure which temp sensor you replace. The Coolant temp sensor just to tell computer engine temp for fuel delivery is suspect but not sure yet.

To clear a flood, hold gas pedal to floor shuts fuel down to clear it for now that should work. If this is still running rich after a start you are risking trashing your converters - big bucks,

Yes I replaced the one that tells the computor the temp. I figured it was saying it was -30 so it was dumping the fuel in but.....it didnt help my problem. Holding the pedal to the floor does not help at all. I have already tried that. The only way to get it to start is to turn it over a few times then get out unhook the fuel line from the throttle body, the truck will start then while its running stick the fuel line back in.

I can feel the hair loss! Mad

Any codes? It should shut fuel down when foot to floor cranking. Not sure how you get away taking off fuel line and not have gas all over the place right now either??

Try taking a fuel pressure test - with good gauge that allows dumping of fuel to a container. Key on, engine off and how long it holds. Then with it running.

More: Make sure oil isn't too full or smells like gas - if so get it out of there at once.

If everything checks out a wild guess for a maybe fix is to disconnect the battery for a good while and it may reset some fool thing that's giving wrong info. As said a wild guess/maybe. If that doesn't change it, it's inconclusive. Get code readings before doing that as it would forget stored codes unless a code is really strong then a "service engine soon" type light should stay lit as well.

Lots of "I don't knows" for the moment. Check away and see what's not in spec. It may think it's still warm and too lean and you would likely smell unburned lean gas on cold starts??

Fuel pressure is good. When I unhook fuel line I run it into a gallon jug. truck starts, then i hook it back up.
