Electrical I think Sign In

1993 Nercury Grand Marquis 98,000 miles,4.6 V-8,auto Well Maintained.Recently the turn signals strated blinking real slow and then quit, the power windows would not work and the radio was buzzing.Afterwards the car had to be jumped off. I replaced the battery and all is well for about a day, then the turn signals are starting to blink slow again. I had the alternator checked and it was at 14.3.Any ideas, should I be concerned? Thanks

Re: Electrical I think Sign In

When you checked the voltage output of the alternator was that when the turn signals where blinking really slow?

Re: Electrical I think Sign In

Sometimes a failing alternator can intermittently stop charging. When your problem is occurring is when you should check the output voltage of the alternator.

We had a couple vehicles in the shop where the alternator would work fine for the first 10 minutes of operation and then quit after it got hot. You have to catch it when it fails.

Also check your output voltage while wiggling the connectors on the alternator. If you lose charging voltage wiggling a wire or connector, you should inspect for loose or melted terminals.
