today, when i was putting my parking brake on, the cable snapped. for the last few months (2-3) the lever would act funny. It would either be really easy to pull up high, or you couldnt really pull it up very high. but it always held the car. i also tried pulling it while moving at about 10mph and it didnt stop me. I looked under the middle console and the cable was really loose, as if it broke. how do i fix this, and what parts do i get? and what tools? thanks Guess you'll just have to chalk it up to bad luck.

It's rare to break a cable - they usually fail by freezing up so be sure it's the cable and not the mechanism. Anything can happen though. These parts, you should have a front one and a place where it can be adjusted and splits to cables that go to each rear wheel. That's under the car. Do youself a big favor and buy an exact replacement not the univeral kit which works but not worth the savings. The hard part to the job is the last hook up as it will be real close. You may have to loosen the adjustment to get it on and re adjust. Always adjust such that you have several (5-7) clicks before it grabs tight. If the cable uses the three barbs that expand to hold it through metal it's tough to remove trying to sweeze all three to push it back through, and sometimes it's easier to break them off with a screwdriver or good wire cutters - there are hardend steel. Good luck,
