Good morning,

I have a 2002 Mitusubishi Eclipse (RS), 4-cylinder. When starting my car this morning, I noticed the emergency brake light was on. I looked down at the emergency brake, thinking maybe I had it on. But my emergency brake was not on, so I am trying to figure out why the light all of a sudden is turned on and won't go off.

Any help/feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks again.

sometimes when the master cylinder is low on fluid it trips the light.

also make sure the actuator on the brake itself isnt sticking

I checked the brake fluid and it was very low. After I added some brake fluid, the light went off.

Thanks for your help.

IMPORTANT! Don't just stop at filling it up as fluid that low could mean a problem! Brakes really don't "use up" brake fluid but disc brakes (at least fronts of this car) will displace the wear of brake pads with fluid as caliper piston(s) move inward. Either way it needs to be known where the fluid went.

If worn brakes - you should know that. If a leak - it's dangerous and you may not get a warning if leak suddenly got much worse,
