Engine wont crank

Hi can anyone give me some advise i have a VT Commodore SS 1999 go to start car but all is the dash light but engine wont crank thought it may of been the starter motor so replaced it with a new one but still wont start the motor..
Any advise will be greatly appreciated

You have to start at the beginning. Have the battery charged and tested first. If that tests good, check to see if the starter is receiving power on the small trigger wire when the ignition is held in "start" position. If no power arriving there, then you will have to troubleshoot the rest of the circuit using a wiring diagram. Try starting it in neutral if it's an automatic trans.
