what they were thinking was maybe it was the IAC circuit in the computer. Not the idle air control, and I may be wrong on the exact initials for it. But something like that. It is starting to seem like a computer problem since the top end ignition (coil, wires, plugs) is going fine.

Well as long as they are testing out the components then that's a good sign. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't someone that plugged a scanner into the DLC, pulled the codes and then said, well everything looks good it's gotta be a PCM.. Some of the basic common failures you might be able to narrow down online. Once all the basics have been confirmed as good then that's the point where you really need to get your hands & meters on the car. I'm just curious what results they got and from what system to flag the ign system. It's very possible this is an ign problem and I suppose it's possible you have a bad PCM, this just isn't a problem I've normally seen with a bad PCM in my area. Once again I just have to go off what info is supplied and can't see the car but from what you've posted, if the timing belt is in time and this is a ign problem it seems more like it would be a resistance problem in one of the circuits.........But I'm not there to see to car run or how it's acting..... I'm assuming the marks were checked on the belt and all is ok there....... I didn't see anywhere in your post where this was done..... I would also unplug the MAF and drive it to see if default settings made any change...... Some cars do better than others with MAFs disconnected but I would still try it keeping in mind this will set a MAF code.....

Not in the conventional sense but it still needs to be checked, especially if the belt looks as bad as appeared it might of in the picture. One of the cams jumping a tooth could definitely cause this problem so I would want to rule it out as possible problem early on.

It happens........... I'm sure you realized that chart was for engines that have timing belts & not chains......

No reason to feel stupid.......30+ plus years I still do "stupid" stuff..... I was 95% sure you knew, but since you didn't come back & bust my b*lls about it I figured I better say just in case of that other 5%..... A regular poster I would've just answered the question...... With you, I knew you knew the answer, plus you don't get treated like a regular poster any more.......You get "trashed" on just like the rest of us.................sry......
