I have a good one for someone. I have a 2003 GMC Envoy SLE 4.2 liter 6 Cyl. (98,000 miles) First off, we know it needs a new power steering pump. It's starting to sound like a fire truck driving down the road with all the "high-pitch" whining. We are replacing it Friday. Sunday morning, we got in the GMC to go to church and it wouldn't crank. ( I think I remember seeing the battery symbol light the night before after I took the keys out) After church, I jumped the GMC off and it cranked about 4 times perfectly. Then, this morning when I went to take the kids to school, it would not crank. Now, here's another twist. Saturday, I stopped to get gas. When I got back in the GMC and cranked it up, the Parking Brake Light and the ABS light came on and stayed on even though the parking brake was down. Also, when those two lights were on, the air conditioning system did not work. No fan, no defrost... it was completely dead. Two hours later, when I cranked up again, the two lights were off and the air was working fine. So, I got up this morning, jumped off the GMC and drove to Advanced Auto Parts for a new battery. The two service lights (Parking Break and ABS) were on the entire drive. We got the battery replaced and it cranked up fine, but the two service lights were still on the whole way home. The guy at Advanced Auto did hook up the code device and it said "No Codes Found" or something like that. I just went to the GMC. It cranked up fine, although the two lights were still on. (Parking Break and ABS) When I shut the engine off, I noticed that the transmission indicator ( P R N D 1 2 3) was illuminated and the battery symbol light were on, even though the keys were out. I put the key back in and sorta wiggled it around in the ignition switch and the battery light and transmission indicator went off. GOOD LUCK WITH THIS ONE! Any ideas about what is going on?

It's sounding like a problem with the ignition switch. Check all your power and ground connections under the hood. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
