GM Cruise Control Adjustment Sign In

I have a 1997 Pontiac Montana and I made the mistake of trying to remove the cruise control cable out of the control unit. I have reinstalled it but I noticed that it can be installed at different depths, I suppose for adjustment...? How do I know how deep the housing needs to be in the control unit? Thanks in advance.

See if this helps you.

Cruise Control Cable Adjuster
  1. Disengage the cable adjuster lock by pulling the adjuster lock out by hand.
  2. The adjuster's internal spring will remove much of the cable slack. Remove as much cable slack as possible without moving the throttle lever.
  3. Engage the cable adjuster lock by pushing the adjuster lock in.
