Gas smell in engine oil

I have a '87 jeep Cherokee the car has just had the thermostat, water pump, and head replaced. The car is still not running right. It is still running so hot. I talked to a mechanically inclined friend that said it sounded like I had gas in my oil. Sure enough he was right. The car is a TBI and neither he nor I have an experience with a problem such as this. Just wondering if somebody out there has any suggestions or experience with this problem.

No it starts right up. And it doesn't run ruff at all. It just runs hot and the other day I heard the lifter rods rattling a little bit.

How do fix injector leak down and would that cause the vehicle to run hotter than normal.

Running hot is the issue. That will make smells and noises. That is a cooling system issue that has to addressed first. Coolant level, fan(s) working, components in good shape like radiator, t-stat, etc. All sorts of things can and will happen from running hot up to and including engine damage! The electrical controls can act up or fail, or intermittently misbehave. Forget injector leak down for now as I don't think that's the problem, T
