Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Back in Nov, I had a problems starting my car, a 2001 Mazda 626. Took it to Firestone, they cleaned out the fuel system and gave it a tune up. They changed the plugs to platinum. This past Sat, after only 2,000 miles or so. I took the car into Tuffy to have some work done and they told me that I needed a tune up with new plugs and wires and a fuel system cleaning. They informed me that the plugs Firestone put in shouldn't have been in my car, they were too powerful. The reason for the fuel system cleaning was the amount of carbon buildup on the plugs and inside the "tube" that connects the throdle body to the breather. I went to Firestone today and they told me that that "tube" doesn't get cleaned out during a fuel system cleaning and that it was normal to have that much carbon on the plugs after 2,000 miles. Can anyone help me with some acurate information here. I'm getting the run-around from someone that doesn't want to give me my money back and I'm getting frustrated. Thanks.

What was the reason that the car was at Tuffy’s? If it was there for a non running issue what were they doing messing with the plugs; if you brought to Tuffy because of a running issue why didn’t you go back to Firestone? You’re being very vague and seem to be looking for ammunition against one or the other shop. Can you scan your invoice from Firestone and the estimate from Tuffy and post them? You can upload them here http://autoforums.carjunky.com/upload/CarPics/ as an Image and post them by using (img)(/img) Just copy and paste the url between the brackets without any spaces. Also change the round brackes to square on either side of the img and /img I shouldn’t go there without more specific information, as in what manufacturer of platinum spark plugs and the part number; what engine size? With the little you’ve given us I would say that Tuffy got caught with their pants down and is trying to make like the Firestone did a poor job. I hate it when one shop slams another makes the whole trade look bad. Put both shops on the spot and set up a conference phone call and all three of you on the call at the same time that will bring out the truth. Canadian "EH"
