Grind/whine right front of vehicle

1994 chevy s-10 Blazer 4WD. When I go above 45mph and then slow down I hear a grinding/ whining noise in right front area, maybe in front of the firewall but behind the axel. If I shift into 4wdh it quits and then back into 2wh and it does not happen again until 45 or above and slow down. Down shifting the tranny ( auto) does not help. If I come to a complete stop without doing anything else, I hear a clunk and it is gone until I drive again.
