Hello everyone! I am new to this forum website and thought ya'll might be of help. Lately, I have gone through some cold weather here in Texas. I do not know if the weather was a factor of the issue, but lately I have had a brake noise develop. Whenever I do a sudden brake, my car seems to slow down just fine, but at the last second, it makes a horrible grinding noise. The noise is louder the faster I am driving. I have attached a web url of the noise, so please listen to it if you can. I thought it might have been the brake pads, but they seem to be just fine. I greased up the brake pads and calipers, but it did not help. My car is fairly new at 40,000 miles (2012 Mustang GT). The noise can be easily heard inside the car, near the engine. It is not easily heard from the outside. Please give any suggestions to what the sounds might be. Thank you!

What, exactly did you do?

Nothing serious. Just simple lubricating of the caliper pins, boot, and behind the brake pads.

Just making sure. People have been known to grease the pad surface.

Your problem has to have something to do with the pad makeup and the rotor surface. I might want to try a different make of pads.
