I have a 1994 mitsubishi Galant. First off it was runing fine besides the loud squeeling noise especially when I would turn on the A/C.. I was told that I'm going to be needing a water pump because it was going out. A friend starting taking it apart to fix the water pump, however he did not get that far before realizeing that he may not be able to finish the job. At this pint all he has taken off is the A/C compressor and belt The parts by the alternator. The first top belt you first see. And so he put that back on an now the car doesnt start at all. I gave it a jump ( long jump) an it finally turns over but still does not start. Lights and radio comes on but just turns over an thats it. Then later goes back dead again .

Make sure the crank sensor didn't get unhooked. It's up top near the alt. (the connecter for the sensor)

Then tell your friend to look a job over very carefully before jumping into it..... It's actually more expensive to get a car fixed when it's half tore apart than if you just took it to a shop to start with....

The connecter I was thinking about was on the left side near the top of the timing cover but just look all around that area and make sure nothing is disconnected.......

It's better to respond to you post rather than a pm.......you'll get help a lot quicker in most cases....

Lots of good techs onboard here.

Found the sensor and nothing was plugged into it. Where does the female part lead to? Does it go into a harness or the distributer?

Just look at the harnesses real good. More than likely the connector got twisted and is behind a loom or is hanging somewhere else...

If it's the crank sensor the input goes to the PCM (computer)
