I have a 2000 Siverado, 5.3 ltr engine, 235,000 miles. My heater does not put out hot air, only luke warm on fan speed 2. If fan speed is increased, the air gets colder. Also when stopping for light or etc. the air gets cooler. Can anyone help me?

How is your coolant level? If the level is good, are both heater hoses hot when the engine is at operating temperature? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

You could have a partially clogged heater core. Try reverse flushing the heater core out with a garden hose. If your coolant is old, it might be a good idea to drain and flush the entire system out. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Sounds like some stale Dexcool sludge. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
