I have a 2003 Saturn Ion 3, 2.2L, 108K miles Whenever I reach 55 to 60 mph, the car's rpms drop and the car hesitates. The car has 108,000 miles, so I thought that the plugs needed to be replaced. I did so and the problem is still there. I replaced the fuel filter thinking that would do the trick and still no resolution. I also had AAMCO check out my transmission and they found nothing wrong on the their "trans scan". Their is no check engine light on and I have no clue what could be wrong. Can someone please help?!!!!!!!

What your describing sounds like a very normal situation of overdrive kicking in. That's right about the speed that it should be happening. Do you have a way to shut the overdrive off to try it without it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

As far as I know their isn't a way to turn off overdrive, however I have had the car for 6 years now and have never had this happen. Plus, there is a loss of power and not a continuation of power into the next gear.

There may be a problem with the torque converter for overdrive then. You should be able to shut it off. If you don't have a button to shut it off. look for 4 positions on the shift indicator. If you have something like 1,2,3 D, then try dropping it down to 3 and driving it to see if the problem goes away.
