I've got a 2001 Hyundai Elantra that the trunk gets about 2 inches of water in it after a hard rain. I've pulled out everything in the trunk (it's down to the bare metal), poured water over the entire car, and can't find anything indicating where the water is leaking into the trunk. It's like it just appears in the center of the trunk. Any ideas or known history of "mystery leaks" in these vehicles?

A maybe for elusive source of water leak: It could be the back window and how it's sealed! Try sealing it in good painter's grade masking tape and if the problem quits you've found it. Auto glass places should be a good bet for resealing the window if so. Trunk/hatch rubber seal may also be an issue. Also - if dirt is in guttering OR if car is parked at a wild angle it might not just gravity drain. Just some ideas, T
