I have a 2008 jetta and a small leak. Had it checked out at a non-dealer mechanic. Thought it was oil but he couldn't find anything after he removed the front splash guard and around the filter. He said could have been oil from driving in the snow and slush got oil residue left by the mechanic during an oil change a month ago. It rains a week later (last night) and I snapped these pictures of what it looked like when I went to work this morning. I have an idea of what it is but I'm no pro lol. Looks like oil and water mixture? I use full synthetic 0w-40. The black looks fresh but the yellow is old oil? The red is??? Gear oil? I drive manual and its 56k. Just got it a yr ago, had one previous owner in Florida but live in ny lol. Any opinions?? I read other articles but none really had pictures of what I have going on?? Mucho thank you :)

There is no question that what you are seeing is oil mixed with water or coolant. You definitely need to find the source of that. Remove the radiator cap and see if the coolant is contaminated with oil and looking the same color.
