Ignition Problem Sign In

My 2004 Grand Am has been having problems starting up for a while now, but it wasn't anything too serious. The ignition just needed to be wiggled a little to find the right spot. Yesterday, my key wouldn't turn at all. After trying for 20 minutes I finally got it started, but now the gears sound like they grind when turning the steering wheel unless the accelerator is depressed. Any help on this, or even a general idea, would be greatly appreciated.

I have no idea what you are trying to say here.

Which engine?

Appears you have two separate issues. You should find out why the key isn't turning. Could be a worn out key or the ignition lock cylinder is going bad. As for the noise, can you pinpoint the source of the noise? How are your fluid levels including the power steering fluid?
