Ignition Problems Sign In

I have a 95 Ford Taurus. For some reason it refuses to start. When I put the key in the ignition, it won't even turn. The wheel is also locked. It has been doing this for a while, but usually if I play with the gear shift it will turn. Now it won't. Please help! I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Re: Ignition Problems Sign In

If by chance the steering wheel was being held in a turned position the last time the engine was turned off and the keys removed; the tension of the front wheels trying to go to an at rest position; has the steering wheel jammed against the steering wheel lock. If this is the case you may have to very aggressively try turning the steering wheel left and right as far as it'll go against the stops; as you attempt turning the key.
If this doesn’t work a tumbler in the ignition lock cylinder may have dropped; if this is the case have the car towed in to a shop for them to dismantle the steering column or call a mobile locksmith to come out and try and pick the lock.
