Jeep starts shuts off at idle Sign In

Hi, hope someone can point me in the right direction as to my problem? I have A 1997 Jeep grand cherokee,4.0 inline 6cyl. A couple of months ago I started it in the morning just fine. About four blocks from my house I stopped at a red light the rpms dropped to nothing and it shut off. I restarted it with a little gas and when I took my foot of the gas it did the same thing. On my second restart the light turned green and I put it in drive without it self idling and away I went. For weeks I had no problem and I thought it was a two time thing. About a month later I had let it sit for a week and when I went to start it again it started fine but when it idles it does the same thing as before and shuts off. Ah but if I let it warm up for about twenty minutes it will run and idle just fine. If anyone has any idea what is going on or how I can fix it I would greatly Appreciate your comments.

Thank YOU,

Todd.

Some maybees:

Do have all maintainence up to date, air + fuel filters. This in line six like many have a long intake manifold subject to vacuum leaks in older versions anyway of the same. You should look/test for vacuum leaks at all areas subject to leaking, gaskets at throttle body, manifold and hoses.

Outside chance this isn't getting proper info that it's cold but hold off on that for now as I think you would have complained about hard starting most of the time,
