Is it common practice to change a fuel filter as one would a air filter or oil? When would you preform this practice?

Oil filters should always be changed with routine oil changes. Air filter should be inspected and replaced as need at oil change intervals. Fuel filters are a mystery as to a known interval. I suggest once a year is adequate for most. Some can go many years depending on amount of use the vehicle gets. Personally I don't trust fuels as much as I used to so am doing them more often. The flare nut in line ones can benefit from changing just so the connections don't give up and make a bigger problem if let go too long. For most, it's not a waste to change more often than a vehicle's maintenance schedule might suggest, T
