1994 Chrysler LHS 3.5 with 160000 miles runs great besides when you get on the highway and run it for about 20 minutes when you get off to exit and are coming to a stop it will start to shake and then die. If you put it in nuetral it will stay running. Could this be my solenoid pack in the transmission or is there something else. It does not do it if you make short trips.

Does it feel like the engine is trying to push you before it stalls, something like not stepping on the clutch when coming to a stop? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

You should have an overdrive off" button somewhere. Try shutting off the overdrive and test it again. It appears that the TCC solenoid is sticking and it's staying in overdrive when you try to stop.

If you mean the Torque Converter Clutch solenoid, that's what I'm talking about.

For that particular part of the issue do this...................... You may have a bad IAC ( idle air control) but try eliminating any vacuum leaks and cleaning the throttle body first. Remove the intake snorkel, have someone hold the throttle wide open for you and scrub the back side of the throttle plate and surrounding bore with an old tooth brush and some carb cleaner. Be sure to spray some into the small holes next to the throttle plate. That should help stabilize the idle. If it still has a problem, replace the IAC.

OK i guess i should go ahead and say this then i already cleaned the throttle bodies and intake replace the idle air vavle and the tps. Before it was just dieing when you stopped no pulling through the break that fixed that for about two weeks then it started this. Im sure it is because the car is 20 years old but im guessing there is something going on it that solenoid pack as well. I did run the hell out of it 75 miles with no od maybe it helped clean it up.
