Loose steering, '71 Ford P/U

My 1971 Ford P/U F-250 has way too much play in the steering wheel. Is this a simple repair? It goes to almost 3 o'clock 0r 9 o'clock before it turns.

That IS way too much and unsafe! Check all front end parts including the gearbox and the vibration rubber thing (for lack of a better term) on the shaft going to the gearbox. At the age it could be a lot of things. Gear box is adjustable to a point but not usually for that much freeplay, T
