Mazda tribute brakes Sign In

What is the normal wear time for front brakes. I have a 2003 Mazda Tribute with 36,000 miles. I was told I need new front pads and rotors. Is this a normal time to need replacement and about how much would a replacement of front pads and rotors cost me? Thanks.

That's about right for front brakes on a car. Rear drum brakes last longer. Rotors no longer come with tons of extra metal so it is best to get new ones. I quit turning rotors as they have a high chance of warping from being too thin.

Driving habits vary and some will wear out sooner or later than that. I suggest asking for high quality parts as I swear they feel better and may last longer.

It should be too early for a real major job so I would expect it to cost about $120 to $140 depending on the price of the parts, T

Is this for both sides? I got 3 quotes. $319, $364.50, and $410.

That sounds high and yes that would/should be for both. Call a parts store and see what they say for prices. Some cars have surprised me. There are chain repair places that adversize much less than that but it will be the economy parts, T
