Metrix radiators?

Hi. New here. Does anyone know the quality of Metrix radiators? I need a new one for my '99 Dakota 4x4, 5.2L engine and 110K miles. I don't want a cheapo, but I don't want one guaranteed for life either (usually very expensive.) Is Metrix a pretty good brand - or not? Thanks for whatever info you can provide.

?? May have gone unnoticed but I don't know that brand. For a long time now a company buys another and just puts a new name on their stuff. If identical in ability (there can be extra duty ones especially for truck based vehicles) I'd just look at it vs perhaps you have an original which are usually pretty good. Rads can go from inside or out depending on conditions and care. Lifetime warr. is both a gamble on their part and the price an insurance policy that you will also miss one detail of care and void it in some cases - watch out for that, T

Thanks Tom. I Binged and Googled Metrix rads and several hits came up, but I couldn't find any that rated them. So don't know if they're any good or not. That's why I came here. I'll keep checking, and thanks so much for your help. Rich

Metrix is a low end economy tire sold by many shops. It's not a bad tire but definitely not premium. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

oldnslow: Retired now but still do some. Mostly use NAPA and the #1 reason is not price but at least the ones near me have top shelf people working there that really know their parts. They know which ones come back more often off the top of their heads. Price: China/Asian made auto stuff can be fine but for a radiator I'd be especially worried. Not bashing China as the ability to make quality is there but they can beat prices. Sometimes the extra buck is totally worth it. With front end parts, suspension, BEARINGS the ones made in N. America have been the quality stuff for ages and fading with competition. Try to plain look at the part and make a guess based on that, T

Tom and Hammer, Thanks so much for your help. I'll check with NAPA and see what their rads go for. The Metrix is $130 at Car Parts Wholesale, which - although a great price - is what had me concerned about their quality. I'll do some more checking, and thanks again.

It's not a tire, it's a radiator for a '99 Dakota 4x4, 5.2L pickup.

OH, my mistake. That is a common name for an inexpensive tire but I've never seen a radiator in that brand and being in South Florida, we see a lot of radiators so it can't be National.

Yeah hammer, I'm beginning to think it must be a cheapo brand, since no one has heard of it. NAPA has a rad for $200, so I'll probably go with that one. Thanks again for your help. Rich
