I have a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville SSE (not supercharged) 6cyl 3.8 Liter, it has about 190,000 miles. My boyfriend and I have been stuck living with his family for 4 months trying to get this car fixed we work every day the car has to go up mountians on a 30 min drive each day. Now we do not know what to do. The only gage that worked when we got the car was the mph gage, now a voltage gage does too. We had to put a heater core on it, then a fuel line. After that we cleaned out the radiator because it had rust from sitting a few years. Since then we had thought the temp. gage was working...(it wasn't apparently) we thought the car was overheating at 210 degrees Farenheit and shuting down, even one day in the middle of an intersection. It seemed the fans were not kicking on. Our friend tried rigging a fan to a switch instead he rigged it to the ignition. He also tried installing 3 new gages but the cords were to short and he cut some cords short and rigged cords up in a way they should not be. The other fan is not plugged up at all. My boyfiend's brother said he can fix it (he used to own the car) but we first need to fix what our friend messed up. I do not know what the official names fr the parts are though and we don't have a way of contacting his brother (he just shows up...no phone). He said we need the box that goes around the air filter (our friend had broke it off), and air filter a square one?, and a wiring harness from the motor to the fan. Please help we don't know how much longer we will have someone taking us to work because the people who have been taking us are having issues keeping their vehicle legal. We really do not want to lose are jobs. We will pay to fix it just need to know what's wrong.
