So, I'm looking to buy a used 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse that only has 74,641 mileage, and it's only $6,500... with all the things this car has.. it seems to be pretty cheap? but maybe not.. My question is.. in the description of the car it says, Nice running, well loved car. Has 2 minor problems as of now, which are no overdrive (only affects highway gas milage) and when its less than 45degrees it has a little rough start. Autostart is included. Has brand new ignition, and computer, new tires, freshly serviced fluids.... so on and so forth.. now I was talking to one of my friends and they told me not to buy the car because if it has no overdrive, that means that the transmission is going out, and it would be very expensive to get it fixed... so, I was just wondering if my friend knows what they are talking about, or if they are completely off? Thanks so much!

Simply get a "pre-purchase" inspection and estimate of repair and decide from there. If seller is unwilling to allow that then keep looking, T
