Hi
I have honda City 98 and recently swapped my engine D15 non EFi with D17 EFi
Fuel tank and fuel line also upgraded to support EFi
But from last few days there is too much petrol smell inside of car. I checked with mechanic and there is no petrol leakage from any where he also told me that as my car is converted to efi and it miss some air line or same sort of thing due to which gasses are created inside of petrol tank and cannot properly exhaust and cause the smell and according to him there is no way to get rid of it ☹️️
Can anybody suggest some solution or mechanic
Current EFI fuel tank used is of Honda city 2000

Your probably only going to find this visually. Do you see any fuel leaks? Not sure how the system is set up on this or if it has an evap system or not because that vehicle is not sold here in the states.

If your mechanic has an evap smoke machine, he/she might be able to locate vapor leaks visually. If the newer system you installed has EVAP, you probably need to install the correct evap system to go along with your engine swap.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Same ideas but will add to check that the fuel cap (petrol) is correct for the newer set up if all done properly might have a "vented" cap and oddly can put odor from side or rear to inside cabin,

? What do you mean "no evap machine" -- I was just suggesting that right at gas cap (petrol) if that doesn't hold pressure to spec and vent thru canister as cars have for ages it can vent right there with just temperature changes, driving with fuel sloshing around etc.

Many may fit and could be totally wrong and do this. It still needed the evap system hooked up to operate properly or you'll never end the problems,

IDK - try this: It won't last but might prove the possibility. Put a sealed plastic bag (gallon food thing) with a rubber band if it will fit over whole cap tight to the little bit of neck might show it expand?

Had one do this all over a gas cap on a new car bought in 1970 (yes that long ago) and it always had a gas odor when filled especially by original owner I bought it from!

Restored it and found gas cap had been mixed up for the whole 22 years he owned it!

Same deals with much newer stuff. They vent only as a default at certain pressures or it's messing with the evaporative emissions which have been a concern for both emissions and annoying odor since forever. Barely matters what the machine - vehicle or other thing. Can it seal when needed and vent when needed? Might have the correct one now that doesn't work too?

Some are like a snorkel like for swimming with a ball that float so you don't breathe in water type concept - they don't look like that but the do that.

If a car tips upside down gas shouldn't leak out - it's been thought of for all sorts of things cars just more complicated why,

(edit) This goes for all petrol/gasoline containers and tanks - all. You can't have a portable gas can in a trunk vent out fumes or blow the car up nor yard equipment spill all over itself either if you ever noticed - they don't.........

problem resolved
the smell is coming from the fuel gauge duct in fuel tank due to bad seal which was replaced and problem gone
thanks for your support

Can't argue with "resolved" as far as you care so will close the thread unless YOU ask a moderator to re-open it,
