does it make that noise at high rpms or high speeds? and does it make that noise in park or just drive? if it does it in park or nuetral with teh parking brake get a video of it being revvved up and try to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. okay it only does this in drive can you tell if its coing from the engine or if its coming from the rear of the vehicle. also did you mean high speeds or high rpms if high rpms it should make this noise while in nuetral and you rev the engine up. Just high RPM's regardless of speed. Its sounds like the front of the car on the right side (If you were in the drivers seat).

okay i take it this is the 3.4 litre V6 engine and a front wheel drive car, which makes me think its a serpentine belt. also how many miles are on teh car would be a great help. GM ASEP 26 SCC Milford ASE certified in Brakes and Electrical on Thursday April 5th 2012

Yup there is about 112,000 miles on it. The serpentine belt would only make that noise in motion though ?

no i find that odd also, and no a serpintine belt should be squeeling all the time formt eh time oyu start the car till oyu turn it off, but i owuld doubt that sometimes a belt doesnt start to slip until higher RPMs like your situatuin if it is the belt but it came to mind since you said it was from the right side of the engine compartment hinting that it is most likely the serpentine belt or a pulley. and with 112k miles on it if you havent already changed the belt i would reccomend doing so if looks like it needs it, check for cracks in it if the belt looks fine the next place i would look is the water pump pulley. to check wait till teh engine is cool take the belt off the pulley and try to move it around wiht your hand up down side to side. if it moves your water pump is most likely colse to failing are you having any overheating problems wiht this also or is your temperature higher than it used to be? id think thats low miles for a water pump to fail but dont quote me on that im not a professional but im an aspiring mechanic tryin to help people out. It hasn't had overheating issues but I'll definitely check that out. Thanks for your input.

This is one of those noises where you really need to be in the car, the main reason to just see where its coming from. Speed had some good pointers to track it down.. You might also try switch your hvac settings. See if switching the blend & mode doors has any effect. Go from recirculate to fresh air, try different blower speeds, crack the windows........ Hey Speed.....long time, no see........ Nice job on the advise..........
